Bio

I am a full-time mathematics faculty. I teach Algebra, Trigonometry, discrete math, numerical methods, Calculus, Probability and Statistics, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations. I have my personal website where I upload my course materials, worksheets, lecture videos, etc.

While I am not teaching, I love to paint, cook, make cookies, make cute toys, and take photos of my daughter Jade and my son Lucas.

Our math class typically accommodates around 10 to 30 students, creating an interactive and engaging learning environment. In addition to traditional lectures, we actively incorporate group activities into our curriculum. During these activities, students collaborate to solve challenging problems and articulate their reasoning to their peers. It promotes teamwork and fosters a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts.

To encourage active participation, I often invite volunteers to present their solutions on the whiteboard. This allows the entire class to review and discuss different approaches, enabling everyone to benefit from diverse perspectives. By collectively examining these solutions, students gain valuable insights and refine their problem-solving skills.

One of the core values I instill in my students is the importance of learning from mistakes. I firmly believe that errors serve as powerful teachers, guiding us toward improvement. I consistently emphasize the value of embracing mistakes as opportunities for growth and learning. This mindset cultivates resilience and empowers students to persevere through challenges, ultimately leading to greater academic success.

In our calculus courses, I leverage animation graphing software like GeoGebra and Desmos to enhance students’ understanding through visualization. The image on the left depicts a tangent plane of a surface, while the image on the right demonstrates the use of upper and lower Riemann sums to approximate the definite integral (area under the curve). By utilizing these tools, students can grasp complex concepts more effectively.

Why I Teach

As a professor at Indiana Tech, my utmost joy lies in assisting and supporting students both inside and outside the classroom. It is immensely gratifying to witness their academic achievements and contribute to their overall success. Recognizing the significance of education in shaping their future and helping them pursue their aspirations, I find great fulfillment in guiding them along their educational journey.
