Indiana Tech’s Bachelor of Science in Child Development with a concentration in Child Life prepares you to support children and families through developmental milestones, illness, hospitalization, grief and other life challenges. Grounded in developmental psychology, the program explores how children grow physically, cognitively, emotionally and socially from infancy through adolescence while emphasizing resilience, coping and emotional well-being.

You will gain knowledge in child development, therapeutic play, family systems and evidence-based child life interventions. Coursework examines how children respond to medical experiences, trauma, loss and change, while developing the communication and collaborative skills needed to support families and caregivers in healthcare and community settings.

If you’re pursuing a career in child life, healthcare or another helping profession, this program builds a strong foundation for advocating for and supporting children and families during challenging times.
