In the ever-growing allied health field, career opportunities are plentiful. Now certified health professionals can advance their skills and knowledge with an Associate of Science in Health Science degree from Indiana Tech. This program is designed for students who have earned an allied health professional certification, or for those who wish to earn one. Indiana Tech will grant up to 18 credit hours of transfer credit toward an associate degree in health science for those who hold an industry credential. Qualifying certificates include Indiana Tech’s medical coding and health care administration certificates, as well as industry credentials like CNA, CPT, RDA, CCMA, CMAA, MHTC and many others.

With an Associate of Science in Health Science from Indiana Tech, health professionals can confidently support patient care in a wide range of clinical and allied health care roles, including EKG technician, dental assistant, medical laboratory assistant, health care administration, medical coding and many others, based on which certificate you carry into the program.

Online coursework for this associate degree includes anatomy, physiology, medical and clinical terminology, protocols, and practices. Students will be able to demonstrate critical thinking, inquiry, and analysis in scientific, medical, and clinical contexts, in order to take their certificate skills and knowledge to the next level with an associate degree.

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the Associate of Science in Health Science, you will be able to:

  • Apply quantitative, logical, and analytical thinking based on scientific inquiry.
  • Analyze medical issues using critical thought based on the scientific method.
  • Recall concepts of human anatomy, human physiology, and human pathology, with an emphasis on human medical diagnostic imaging and other diagnostics related to human health.
  • Recall medical and clinical-based terminology and communication that includes awareness of related to their specialized field.
