Indiana Tech Cybersecurity Center

Over the past five years, numerous high-profile corporations have endured debilitating cyberattacks that have negatively affected their businesses, damaged their reputations, and cost them millions of dollars to remediate.

As such, cybersecurity has become a rapidly growing field as corporations search for the best and the brightest minds to help them defend their digital infrastructure. In fact, Cybersecurity Ventures, a world leader in research for the global cyber economy and a trusted source for cybersecurity facts, figures, and statistics estimates there will be 3.5 million unfilled cybersecurity positions worldwide by 2021.

Why Our Cybersecurity Program

I would like to introduce myself. I am Mr. Togashi the Director of the Cybersecurity Program. We are proud of Indiana Tech’s Cybersecurity program. We have done a few changes in the last couple of years that I would like to point out.

  1. Aligned our program to the Centers of Excellence in Cybersecurity, supported by the FBI, National Security Agency (NSA), and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
    1. We have been accepted into the application process to become a Centers of Excellence in Cybersecurity by the NSA.
  2. Enhanced our Virtual labs to include an Ethical Hacking lab, Capture the Flag (CTF) competitions, a student ran DevOps environment for training and live simulations, and more.
  3. With the expansion of our Zollner Engineering building:
    1. Ground-breaking ceremony May 15, 2021.
    2. For more information (click here).
    3. Phase I will be available in July 2022, a Cyber Security Operations CenterNetwork Operations Center, and a student ran Data Center.
    4. Phase III will include an enhanced Digital Forensics Crime Scene and Lab.
  4. Learn about our Cyber Warrior Scholarship (click here)
  5. We also have remote tryouts for our nationally known Cyber Warriors Team.  If you are interested, (click here).

Current/Future Initiatives

To meet this field’s burgeoning need for prolific cybersecurity professionals, Indiana Tech is reinforcing its cybersecurity program with additions that will create a more impactful learning environment. Over the next two years, Indiana Tech’s cybersecurity program will:

  • New Cybersecurity Podcast (GoforITCyber): Coming soon! If there is a Cybersecurity topic you would like to know more about let us know. Click on the button below and take our survey.
  • We have applied for our Cybersecurity program to become a Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (CAE-CDE) designated. NSA approved our application to move forward with our designation process (May 13, 2021). In the next few months, we will be gathering our information required for the CAE-CDE application and working with a mentor from the CAE process.
  • Zollner Expansion’s Ground Breaking Ceremony (May 14, 2021) will start an expansion of the Engineering and Computer Sciences programs. See a rendition of the new Zollner building at the following link: The Cybersecurity program will be directly affected by:
    • Build a state-of-the-art Security Operations Center
      • Students will get hands-on experience in DevOps, perform ethical hacking, network penetration tests, and cyber defense activities on simulated real-life scenarios on a private network.
    • Build a Digital Forensics Lab
      • A place where simulated crime scenes can be created to give students practice at incident response and digital forensics investigation techniques.
    • Build a student lead Data Center
      • This can be used for our cybersecurity program and other departments within the School of Computer Sciences. This center will permit professors to create customizable virtual environments to give students another hands-on environment to learn from.

Curriculum updates

Indiana Tech’s cybersecurity degree program has been re-aligned to the NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) Cybersecurity Framework. We have updated and added the following courses:
