A marketing brochure will only go so far in showing you how an Indiana Tech education can prepare you well for a successful career. That’s why we work hard to stay in touch with our graduates so we can develop their Success Stories. First and foremost, we are proud of our graduates and we love letting the world know about their outstanding accomplishments. Secondly, there is no one better to illustrate the impact of an Indiana Tech degree than one who has walked across our commencement stage and dived headlong into his or her career.

major: B.S. Manufacturing Engineering, M.S. Engineering Management
Industrial Engineer, Oji Intertech, INC.

My main focus is to assist in transforming the organization to a lean manufacturing operating model. I design and improve systems that identify and remove waste from our operations as a project leader, team member, and coach. In addition, I have a supporting role in the development of new products and processes.

The process of developing a theory, conducting an experiment, studying the results, and reflecting on the next course of action triggers all the right endorphins. Applying this process to remove barriers that rob people of pride in workmanship is even better. Who enjoys making a bad part or waiting? To top it all off, the removals of such barriers improves customer satisfaction and the health of the company, which leads to more jobs.

major: B.S. Mechanical Engineering
Chief Engineer, Navistar Defense

Currently I am the chief engineer for all commercial off the shelf (COTS) programs for our defense business. This role involves working with customers beginning in the proposal phases of a program and all the way through implementation and fielding of vehicles in theatre. We have currently fielded over 34,000 vehicles in 26 different countries. While we have seen budgets decrease and a transition in Iraq and Afghanistan, we continue to help our customers understand how they can use their currently fielded vehicles they already have, just in a more effective manner. We offer survivable, enduring and highly capable vehicle platforms along with a suite of solutions so that those vehicles can carry on for 15 to 20 year life-cycles.

My daily tasks range in nature since we support all phases of a vehicle program. I travel to both our Lisle Illinois and Madison Heights Michigan offices where our functional engineering groups are based out of as well as go to our Springfield Ohio assembly plant to support the actual build events themselves. In addition, I help manage our truck equipment manufacturers (TEM) content that is installed on our Navistar Defense vehicles as we sell more than just the base chassis, but a complete vehicle to accomplish the mission at hand.

I am extremely passionate for the products and services that Navistar Defense has to offer our customers and enjoy the responsibilities that my job title includes. The continuous business opportunities that we respond to offers a range of variety without day over day repetition. Most importantly, the products we offer our service men and women to protect them in order bring them home safe to their family is personally rewarding in a way that can’t be explained.
